From the study carried out by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Lázaro Cárdenas port has become one of the Top 20 ports in this region, moving from position fourteen to number thirteen for 2019, and it is established as the second best ranking in the country.
Operating a total of 1,318,732 TEUs that, based on 1,314,798 displaced in 2018, represent 0.3% more, considering the level of container operations, the economic framework in which it is developed, the level of own investment generated, in addition to the framework social and political in which it works.
Each year, ECLAC produces a ranking that shows the detail of cargo movements in containers. The analysis includes a sample of 36 countries and 125 ports and port areas.
Thanks to the improvement and expansion of its infrastructure, the Lázaro Cárdenas Port has become one of the most important venues in Latin America, in addition to technological advances, the capacity of its services, and the quality of its human capital, have been a fundamental piece to achieve this growth.
The operational capacity of the Lázaro Cárdenas Port complies with the logistics solutions that the global market requires, since it is a highly competitive site, its efficiency considerably reduces operating times, which translates into cost savings, resulting in the generation of direct and indirect jobs mainly in the region.
